National Kidsafe Day Tuesday 26th – Making a Safer World for Kids

National Kidsafe Day aims to increase awareness of unintentional childhood injuries and their prevention.

It’s also about recognizing the valuable work of our good friends at Kidsafe – the Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Australia, in public education, advocacy and research into the causes and prevention of unintentional childhood injury.

Kidsafe challenges Australian families and communities to make National Kidsafe Day 2010, Tuesday 26th October, a child injury free day and help Kidsafe continue its work to Make a Safer World for Kids.

We’re teaming up with Kidsafe Queensland to make this day one to remember. If you’re in the Brisbane CBD, come by King George Square and join in on the fun and get up to date on how to make the home as safe as possible. We will have to Springfree™ Trampoline models on display for lots of safe jumping :)

Some interesting Facts:

According to Kidsafe, more Australian children aged 1 – 14 years die as a result of injury than from cancer, asthma and infectious diseases combined. In 2005, 35% of all deaths in this age group were due to injury.∗ The majority of injuries to children are unintentional – events that are often described as “accidents”. Unintentional injuries account for about 96% of injury hospital admissions and about 90% of injury deaths.

Most unintentional injuries are however, both predictable and preventable. Kidsafe, the Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Australia, is a not-for-profit charity that aims to prevent and reduce the incidence and severity of unintentional childhood injuries in Australian children aged less than 15 years. In 2010 we are raising awareness of the importance of keeping children safe at home: the place where we often feel the safest is the location where over 70% of all child injuries occur.

Preventing childhood injuries does not mean “wrapping children in cotton wool” but does involve supervision and creating and maintaining safer environments in which children can learn, grow and develop safety conscious behaviours.

COMPETITION TIME….

Undefined

We love having you as friends so to say thanks we are giving away 10 Springfree™ Trampoline’s to 10 lucky families here on Facebook. When asked what you wanted in a competition a little while ago you said photo’s are always great and we couldn’t agree more.

We combined this with family because family is everything to everyone and that’s what Springfree™ Trampoline is all about… keeping your family safe and providing endless hours of fun for the whole family. For more information about the competition and to enter your photo click on the ‘FAMILY FUN’ Tab on the FACEBOOK page (third one across).

You have plenty of time to submit your entry so take some time, think a little creative and best of luck.

We are definitely going to have a hard time picking the winners. The judges will be myself (Erin), Sophie, the marketing team leader and mother of two beautiful girls and Jason, our consultant based in Sydney who has an adorable baby girl. GOOD LUCK!

Please note this is only open to all our Aussie Friends. I am sure those in other regions will have heaps of fun stuff to look forward to in the future but for the moments it’s all AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE…

Get Fit this Summer with the Springfree Trampoline.

The Springfree™ Trampoline is not just for the kids. It’s one of the most beneficial physical activities, combining fun with a high cardio work-out, making for a lean and tone body.

NASA did some research and here are their findings:

1. Trampolining uses twice the oxygen that treadmill running does – improving fitness and burning calories.

2. Its effective at rebuilding bone and muscle mass after periods of weightlessness, which will of course work equally well for the average punter.

3. Offers a time efficient way of exercising because you can get all the benefits of normal training in half the time on the trampoline.

10 minutes of vigorous Jumping is the equivalent of a 30 min run!

4. Stimulates your lymphatic system, your circulatory system, your digestive system, your reproductive system, your brain and your entire body without trauma to your musculoskeletal system

So this afternoon, why not pop out into the backyard for a 10 minute bounce – Your body will love you for it :)

Tips for balancing all aspects of life and making in work!

Leanne, Springfree™ Trampoline’s Young Manager of the Year has had a big year. We all joined her on her pregnancy journey, giving birth to her beautiful little man Lewis. But if adapting to motherhood isn’t hard enough, she did this whilst completing her final exams for university.

So let’s just re-cap. In 2010 Leanne worked full-time receiving huge accolades for her professional life, had a baby and completed her 4-year university degree, graduating on Friday.

So let me just say a HUGE congratulation to Leanne from all of us here at Springfree™ Trampoline :)

She is the one in the middle.

The Springfree™ Trampoline office has a number of working mothers, juggling career commitments and motherhood AND importantly making it work. So how do they do it?

Leanne (Finance Manager):

I don’t drink Caffeine so that’s not the answer…. Here are her tips:

  • Get organized the night before. Wash your hair the night before, don’t change into your work clothes before bub is fed and clean (changing last minute can slow you down)
  • Use the simple pleasures in life to make yourself good about the hectic life you have – change into PJ’s when you get home so at least your comfy!!
  • Have a cup of tea, watch a movie while you fold the washing, take the opportunity for two hands when your husband offers!

Simone (Consultant): You have to have patience, flexibility and an understanding family. Only do what you can cope with, and leave the stuff that does not have to be done immediately.

Sophie (Marketing Team Leader):

  • Being organized is absolutely essential to keep on top of things. – Number 1 rule!!!
  • Always make time for my children everyday………………..even if it is as simple as playing peek a boo with my 9 month old, reading stories, or going for a walk round the block while my eldest rides her bike. 10minutes makes such a huge difference and all it takes.
  • Be accepting of the circumstances you find yourself in. Don’t fight it or get upset because things may not be as easy as you thought they would be. (Example at my place is a clean house J)
  • Having a support network helps, my girlfriends and family who all have or have had children and work are so amazing.
  • Be honest with those you work with. If work supports you and what you’re trying to achieve then half your challenge is already complete.
  • I have a husband who supports my Career and is a terrific sounding board when the days are tough. He is very logical where I can be very emotional.

A great read (if you have the time):
