Springfree Trampoline rolling into Canadian Tire Retail Stores

Canadian Tire

Springfree Trampoline Set Up at 2009 Canadian Tire Conference

Get excited Canada, Springfree™ Trampoline is coming to Canadian Tire in 2010.

It’s so exciting to finally be able to tell everyone!

We appeared at the Canadian Tire Dealer Convention this October, and can’t wait to be in store next year.

The convention hosts new and exciting products for dealers to have a sneak peak at, and we had overwhelmingly positive feedback.

There was a lot of interest from everyone in the safety features and engineering design of the Springfree™ Trampoline.

Three time Olympic trampoline medalist, Karen Cockburn, and Silver Olympic trampoline medalist, Jason Burnett, signed autographs, drawing crowds as they performed amazing demonstrations.

I also couldn’t resist the fun and jumped every chance I got.

Canadian Tire was founded in 1922 and is a major Canadian family retailer with 475 stores across Canada. That means you’ll be able to pick up a Springfree™ Trampoline in your neighborhood store as early as spring.

Stay tuned for more information of the availability of the Oval Springfree™ Trampoline at a store near you!

It’s alive… The Springfree Trampoline Store Sydney Store is open

photo

Its official! Our first ever retail shop is open and alive and it is one great big party here in celebration!

Located in Sydney, Australia this is our foundation retail shop, hopefully the first of many.

After a long couple of days (assisted by many snacks and positive encouragement from our empathetic Facebook fans), and months in the planning we kicked off this morning.

Australian Olympic legend Dawn Fraser is signing autographs after officially ‘cutting the ribbon’ (wrapped around an SF40E trampoline of course), some of the Balmain Tiger boys (that’s a top rugby league team for anyone outside of the Southern hemisphere) are teaching kids to pass the ball, the local trampoline club is performing, and we have prizes galore!

Would you believe that this was once a gas station?? Neither can we.

Better get back to the fun :) If you in the area make sure you pop down for a free snag.

More suggestions people buy the safe trampoline…yep, that’s Springfree Trampoline

We’re pretty excited there’s more public encouragement for consumers to look for safer ‘spring-free’ trampolines.

Today, one of Australia’s most widely circulated newspapers the Brisbane Courier Mail features a story “Jumping for Joy carries a warning”.

Springfree™ Trampoline’s patented FlexiNet™

Journalist Rod Chester, reports the QLD Office of Fair Trading is looking forward to seeing the recommendations of the recently announced NSW inquiry into trampoline safety (which we blogged about a couple of weeks back).

Dr David Eager, considered Australia’s preeminent expert in trampoline safety, is quoted in the story as backing a push to make Australia’s voluntary trampoline standard compulsory.

And the result of the NSW inquiry could be the first step in this compulsory direction.

“… Most of the [trampolines] sold don’t comply with the safety standard”, continuing that even if pads are used to cover sprints, they are “useless” and give people the “false expectations they’ve got something that is safe”.

The story concludes “The safer trampolines are spring-free, and have soft-edged mats and high nets to stop children falling off”.

And who’s the only trampoline in the world that’s ‘spring-free’ – that’s us, Springfree™ Trampoline!

So with up to 16,000 kids annually admitted to ED departments, we say the fact others are now suggesting consumers choose the safer option – well, that’s pretty good news.

Welcome to the world of wedding etiquette … 45 weeks and counting

Welcome to the world of wedding etiquette … With 45 weeks till the big day, I have recently been introduced to two words – Wedding Etiquette…

hitchhike_bride

(Note to self: Even though I may be excited about my perfect wedding dress, one must refrain from sending a picture of my perfect wedding dress and I to others… sorry mum x!)

There are a vast amount of ideas, opinions and rules floating around when it comes to wedding etiquette, each sharing an aim to avoid hiccups on the big day.

From the traditional to the modern ideas of wedding etiquette, a lot of these ideas generally cover topics such as; who is invited, writing wedding invitations, who pays the bills, venue, speeches etc. (Uh-huh now I see why wedding planners are so popular)

I spoke with a couple of people regarding their experiences with wedding etiquette and what helpful tips they could pass on – here’s what they had to say;

Simone – “My daughter recently tied the knot and I found the biggest tip I could give would be keeping calm and showing respect to the other side i.e. his side”.

Paul – “The woman is always right”

Dianne – “Plan early and have everything organised well before the big day. That way you get a few days to relax and enjoy – stress free”.

The Mother – “It’s important to get all parties concerned with the wedding in a discussion about how they can contribute and what they can do to help. With the new modern times and blended families, the oldies don’t always know what the bride and groom expect or want unless you tell us.” (hint hint mum?)

Barbara – “Make sure the person responsible for the music, gets the music right. The last thing you want to be doing is to be walking down the aisle to the sounds of Devo’s Whip it”.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xbt30UnzRWw

Tanya - “Run away! Elope! Take off like I did to a beautiful pacific island. Don’t tell anyone you’re going, have a fantastic private wedding on the beach, superb romantic honeymoon, and then tell everyone you’re married when you get home”.

I think Countrybride sum up a simple rule on wedding etiquette perfectly, “Wedding etiquette is never do or say anything that has even the slightest potential to offend.”

I would love to hear from you and wedding etiquette tips you’d like to share?

Emma – The excited bride to be

Digital Magic that is Social Media

img-time-machine

Social Media is without doubt changing the way in which companies talk to their consumers. I had a very insightful day attending the Digital Marketing and Media Summit, listening to the journey of companies such as Cadbury, Nissan and Blackmores and their sucessful leap into the new media world.

These household brands all spoke of a common theme in their marketing strategies that being a shift from passive marketing to experiential marketing. Freddo the Frog does this brilliantly.

Freddo was losing marketshare not because of other chocolates in its catergory but from characters like Ben10. Everyone knows about Freddo The Frog but Cadbury had to engage and captivate the market once more by creating a personality that kids could interact with. The adventures of Freddo and the Time Machine has done just that. With entertaining episodes, problem solving games, games they can print out and take to school and personalisation applications they have achieved phenonmenal success, sharing simiallar click through rates to the Wiggles in a short period.

This strategy not only captivates the kids but also has mum hooked. Mums are always looking for educational yet entertaining ideas to keep the kids occupied and Freddo, the trusting, innocent and always friendly Frog is a great example of the power and entertaing capabilities of Digital Media.

http://www.freddo.com.au/

Harry Potter also used the magic of Digital Media to launch its website. Instead of the traditional PR glitzy Launch inviting hundreds of people, they sent a digital clip to 7 main influential bloggers and within something like 38 hours over 35 million poeple were talking about it!

Australia is just starting to see the effect with new techonology always emerging. So whats next? What companies do you think do it well?

This was Cockburn eighth world championship appearance. Teaming up with Rosannagh MacLennan, also of Toronto, and newcomer Samantha Sendel of Aurora, they made for a stellar team. The Chinese Team took out the Gold followed by the Russians in second place.

Springfree™ Trampoline could not be prouder of our two champion endorser Karen Cockburn and Rosie MacLennan.

A day to Remember: My Experience Watching the Birth of My Beautiful Little Niece

Tia and me

Tia around 4 hours old and a very tired Aunty

I’m not sure if you noticed but I have not blogged in the last two days but I have a very good reason. My sister Leigh gave birth to my beautiful little niece and I was by her side from the start to finish.

I got the call from my sister at around 4:45pm on Tuesday 10/11, that she has started her contractions. I didn’t actually believe her at first as I had been waiting for this moment for 9 months and now it was here!

I raced straight over to her house and got everything prepared. Fruit, lollies, water, spare clothes and put everything in the car. At his point the contractions were around 20 minutes apart so we got to watch our favourite shows – Packed to the Rafters and Private Practice.

At around 11:30pm the contractions started to become closer together around 8 minutes so we thought we better start thinking about going to the hospital soon. I got really obsessed with timing the contractions and the space in between. It made me feel as though I was doing something helpful for Leigh. I looked like a footy coach with my stop watch around my neck yelling “It’s nearly over Leigh, 10 more seconds!”

At 12:00pm on the dot we made the decision to hope in the car and head to the hospital as the contractions were really revving up and were around 5 minutes apart. At that moment I thought she couldn’t be too far away now, in no time Leigh will be holding her little girl. How wrong could I have been?

Her contractions continued like this for another 5 hours! She tried it in the bath, in the shower, on the bed, on her knees but nothing made my little niece want to move any faster. She was a stubborn little thing! Leigh stayed at 7 cm Dilated for 5 hours without any progress so they made the decision to give her an epidural at around 9am on the 11/11. Yes that’s right we have been going now for around 16 hours!

The doc came in around 12:00pm and gave us the news Leigh needed – yep in the last 3 hours she has made her way down and Leigh could get ready to push. YAH!!! Leigh was not so excited. Her anxiety kicked in and she was so exhausted she didn’t know how she was going to push. Well she did. She had to wait until the Epidural wore off a bit so at 1:00pm she started to push. This went on for over 2 hours when the doc cam back in at 3:00pm and said its time for this little one to come out and he used the powers that technology has granted mothers and got her out.

Born at 3:34pm on 11/11 Tia Lee Campbell was just perfect, weighing in at a very healthy 8lbs 4oz.

Now 2 days old, I am amazed that she already has a nice calm little personality. She makes faces just like her mum and she is the apple of everyone’s eyes. Even the nurses keep saying how perfect she is (maybe they say this everyone but hey we don’t disagree)!

It was the most amazing experience of my life to watch the wonder that is Child Birth. So many people said to me that I won’t want to have kids of my own after watching the ordeal but in fact I feel the exact opposite. Yes it was hard and long work, but that moment when they lifted little Tia to Leighs’ chest was one of those moments that will never leave me.
